[For enrolled Students] Visa Extension Application


You must apply for a visa extension before the expiration date indicated on the back of your Alien Registration Card.
Only students who have completed tuition payment are eligible to apply for a visa extension.
If you applied for installment payment, you are not eligible for visa extension. Please take note.


Visa Extension Fee: 60,000 KRW

[Processing Time: 3 to 7 weeks]

Required Documents:

1. Application form

2. Passport (copy)

3. Certificate of tuition payment

4. Certificate of enrollment

5. Academic transcript

6. Financial documents showing a balance of at least 8,000,000 KRW

Not required if GPA is C or above

If GPA is below C, you must submit a written statement explaining the reason

7. Proof of residence (copy of one of the following: official mail from a government office, rental contract, notification of stay expiration, utility bill receipt, or dormitory move-in confirmation)

※ If you are not living in a house under your own name (e.g., staying at a friend’s place), you must submit a Residence/Accommodation Confirmation Form along with a copy of the provider’s ID.

※When applying for an extension of stay, if all available spaces for stay period entries on the back of your Alien Registration Card have been used, you must apply for a reissuance of the card.

In this case, in addition to the regular extension application fee of 60,000 KRW, you must pay an additional reissuance fee of 35,000 KRW and submit a recently taken photo.

Important Notes:

If you are enrolling in an additional semester beyond the regular academic period (e.g., a 5th year for undergraduate):

→ Submit Professor’s Recommendation, Statement of Reasons, and Financial Proof additionally.

If you are advancing to a higher degree program (e.g., from bachelor’s to master’s, or master’s to doctoral program, under D-2 visa):

→ Submit proof of previous degree (e.g., graduation certificate) and financial proof, regardless of GPA.
