Big Data Special Lecture — “Sports Coaching and Big Data: Present and Future”

The Department of Sports Science at Jeonbuk National University held a special lecture on big data for its students on October 31, 2025.

This lecture was organized to understand how big data is being utilized in the field of sports coaching and to explore future directions, amid the growing importance of data-driven decision-making in the rapidly changing sports landscape.

Lecturer Lee Han-ul introduced how data is applied in athlete performance analysis, injury prevention, and customized training program design, focusing on real-world case studies. He also presented methods for gaining new competitive advantages through the convergence of sports science and coaching, along with anticipated changes driven by future technological advancements.

Through this lecture, students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of data analysis capabilities and had an opportunity to reflect on the future competencies required as sports science majors.
