Lecturer | Professor at Chung-Ang University / Director of the Athlete Training Center ATC Kwon Yong-woong
The Department of Sports Science at Jeonbuk National University held a Big Data Special Lecture Series on October 31, 2025, focusing on data-driven analysis and the application of cutting-edge technology in the sports field. This special lecture was organized to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) and big data are being applied across various fields—including coaching, performance enhancement, exercise physiology, and training—within the rapidly evolving sports industry.
Professor Kwon Yong-woong (Chung-Ang University / Director of the Athlete Training Center, ATC) delivered a lecture titled “Big Data based on Baseball & Running (Perspectives of Athletic Training and Biomechanics).” Professor Kwon introduced biomechanical analysis and athlete training cases utilizing big data, focusing on baseball and running disciplines, and provided concrete explanations of data-driven performance enhancement strategies applicable in real-world settings.
Through this special lecture series, students gained firsthand experience of the changes and value created by the convergence of sports science and data science. They also had a meaningful opportunity to understand the specialized competencies required in the future sports industry and research fields.
