University Student Career Mentoring Program and Introduction to the Department of Sports Science Held for Jeonju Jeil High School Students

On November 5, 2025, the Department of Sports Science successfully hosted a university career mentoring and department introduction event for students from Jeonju Jeil High School.

Current students from our department participated as mentors, sharing vivid stories about university life and methods for learning and choosing a career path in the field of sports science with their high school peers.

First, the mentors candidly and passionately shared their reasons for enrolling, their experiences with classes and practical training, club activities, and examples of internships and field placements. Next, the high school students learned firsthand that sports science is a specialized field integrating diverse disciplines like physiology, psychology, biomechanics, and exercise prescription beyond simple physical education. They actively asked questions such as ‘What competencies can be developed in this department?’ and 'What career paths are possible after graduation?'

During the department introduction, the focus was on the department's educational goal: “cultivating competent sports professionals equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.” This included presentations on undergraduate and graduate curricula, research activities, practical labs and facilities, and community and industry partnership programs.

This career mentoring session proved a meaningful opportunity for high school students to design their career paths more concretely and deepen their understanding of the Department of Sports Science.

The department will continue to expand opportunities for communication and mutual growth with local high school students.
