글로벌융합대학 국제인문사회학부, 미국 피어스 칼리지와 특별한 교류 행사 개최

지난 8월 29일, 글로벌융합대학 국제인문사회학부 학생들이 전라북도와 자매결연을 맺은 미국 워싱턴 주의 피어스 칼리지(Pierce College) 학생들과 특별한 만남을 가졌다. 이번 만남은 양국 간의 문화 교류를 증진시키고 상호 이해를 깊게 하기 위한 목적으로 이루어졌다.

학생교류봉사단의 일원으로 참여한 국제인문사회학부 학생들은 피어스 칼리지 학생들에게 캠퍼스 곳곳을 안내하며, 우리 대학의 역사와 문화를 소개하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다. 이를 통해 두 학교 간의 유대감을 강화하고, 글로벌한 시각을 넓히는 계기를 마련했다.

또한, 이번 행사에는 사학과 하태규 교수님이 연사로 초청되어 한국의 역사와 문화 속에서 전라북도와 전주가 갖는 중요성에 대해 강연하는 시간도 마련되었다. 하 교수는 전주와 전라북도가 한국 역사에서 차지하는 위상과 역할을 설명하며, 미국 학생들에게 한국 문화에 대한 이해를 높이는 귀중한 기회를 제공했다.

이번 행사는 두 학교 간의 학생 교류를 더욱 활성화하는 계기가 되었으며, 국제적 협력의 중요성을 다시 한 번 일깨워 주는 소중한 시간이 되었다.

The School of International Studies at the Global Convergence University Hosts Special Exchange Event with Pierce College!

On August 29th, students from the School of International Studies at the Global Convergence University had a special meeting with students from Pierce College in Washington State, USA, which has a sisterhood relationship with Jeollabuk-do. This meeting was aimed at promoting cultural exchange and deepening mutual understanding between the two countries.

As part of the student exchange volunteer group, the students from the School of International Studies guided the Pierce College students around the campus, introducing them to the history and culture of our university. This event helped strengthen the bond between the two institutions and provided an opportunity to broaden their global perspectives.

Additionally, Professor Tae-Gyu Ha from the Department of History was invited as a guest speaker to give a lecture on the significance of Jeollabuk-do and Jeonju in Korean history and culture. Professor Ha explained the role and importance of Jeonju and Jeollabuk-do in Korean history, providing the American students with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of Korean culture.

This event served as a catalyst for further student exchanges between the two schools and highlighted the importance of international cooperation, leaving a lasting impact on all participants.
