The Department was founded in 1972 under the aegis of the College of Social Science. There are seven professors and about 200 undergraduate and graduate students, including international students from China, Mongolia, and Cambodia. Professors with a variety of experience and expertise in the public and not-for-profit sectors have committed to apply theory into practice in their research and teaching. This is associated with interactive teaching and the use of case studies, workshops, and team projects.

The Department of Public Administration offers education and research programs in the fields of public administration and public policy. Our department aims to support students in preparing for positions as professional public administrators/managers, to meet the changes and challenges in public service, and to serve the community and nation through extending public administration expertise and intellectual knowledge. Furthermore, the department’s curriculum includes methodology/methods, governmental organization, personnel and financial administration, policy science and local administration, public administration philosophy, cultural policy, emergency management, and conflict management. In particular, our department offers several courses related to information technology and statistics so that students are equipped to meet the challenges of today’s information era and the future.
