▷ Major Research Interests and Summary : Nutritional Biochemistry (lipid metabolism);

  1. Role of carnitine in regulating lipid metabolism in obesity/diabetes and physical exercise.
  2. Preclinical/clinical trials using bioactive compounds from natural substance for anti-obesity/anti-diabetic properties.
  3. Development of personal nutritional program and health management based on analysis of individual genetic makeup and life style

The current central interest is the study of how Korean traditional functional foods regulate fat metabolism in vivo. Our approach is to: 1. characterize in detail the alteration of lipid fractions by different diet patterns. 2. determining the alteration of lipid metabolism related molecules (proteins, mRNAs, DNA etc.). 3. finding out possible functional foods includes bioactive compounds for the obesity and diabetes in animal and human models.
