- Our History starts with first graduate in Fab 1986, a graduate school master's degree is established in November 1987, and a graduate doctoral degree in November 1988.
- In 1996, the organization was reorganized into a faculty of biological resources along with the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture. However, in 2009, the organization was reorganized from the faculty of Biological Resources to the Department of Agricultural Biology.
- In August 1982, Professor So In-young, who was in charge of agriculture and botanical pathology, supervised the class, and the insufficient professors are supplemented by the cooperation of the biology professor at the College of Education and the biology professor at the College of Natural Sciences.
The Department of Agriculture and Biology started with a plant pathology laboratory, an entomology laboratory, a department office, and six teaching laboratories, and now has a laboratory, insect breeding room, general equipment room, sample room, microscope room, and many equipment are available.
Professor So In-young, who retired from the Department of Agricultural Biology, has contributed for the development of plant pathology since he retired in August 1998, and Professor Kim Tae-heung, who taught agricultural pest control, passed away in December 2009.
Professor Lee Jong-jin has operated an insect physiology room since taking office in March 1984, and has taught general insect studies, insect physiology, and hygienic insect studies as lecture subjects. He had been the president of the Korean Insect Society from November 2005 to November 2006 and retired in February 2018.
After taking office in October 1985, Professor Kim Hyung-moo operated the Plant Bacterial Class and taught seed pathology, plant bacillus pathology, and bacillus science as lecture subjects. He had been the president of the Korean Botanical Pathology Association in 2010 and retired in August 2016.
Professor Hwang Chang-yeon has operated an insect ecology class since taking office in April 1988, and has taught insect taxonomy, insect ecology, and beekeeping as lecture subjects. While serving as the president of the Korean Beekeeping Association from 2004 to 2007, he contributed to the development of beekeeping in Korea and retired in September 2011.
After taking office in April 1988, Professor Lee Wang-hyu operated the Plant Bacteria Class, and taught plant pathology, plant bacteria pathology, and soil biology as lecture subjects. In 1994, as a research professor at Urban University in the United States, he achieved many achievements in establishing the theory of plant bacterial pathology and retired in February 2019.
1. Professor Joo Ho-jong graduated from Kunkuk University and obtained a doctorate in agriculture and virus major at Oklahoma State University, followed by post-doctoral training at Cornell University in the U.S. and operated a botanical virus pathology class in April 2010. Lecture subjects are agricultural microbiology, pathogenic sarcoma, plant viral pathology, plant physiology, plant disease management, and biochemistry.
2. Professor Kim Jae-soo graduated from Seoul National University and obtained a doctorate of agriculture and forestry in insect pathology major from Seoul National University graduate school. He worked as a chief senior researcher at the Farm Hannong Central Research Institute from 1999 to 2008. From 2008 to 2012, he was worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Vermont State Institute of Insectology and Seoul National University Institute of Agricultural and Life Sciences. And he operated the Insect Pathology Laboratory (IMBL) for pest control. Lecture subjects are insect pathology, biological control, agricultural pests, and pesticide.
3. Professor Choi In-young graduated from Jeonbuk National University, obtained a doctorate in agriculture as a plant pathology from the same graduate school, and worked as an agricultural researcher at the Jeollabuk-do Agricultural Research Institute from 1994 to 2019. From 2002 to 2003, he conducted a study on the development of mushroom virus diagnosis technology as a postdoctoral researcher at Warwick University (HRI), and from 2016 to 2018, he conducted an international joint study on the rapid control technology for development of spot diseases as a visiting researcher at Queensland University, Australia. In September 2019, he was appointed to the Department of Agricultural Biology at Jeonbuk National University, and his lectures are plant pathology, plant fungus pathology, seed pathology, and plant conservation.
4. Professor Shin Tae-young is a researcher pursuing a comprehensive pest management (IPM) strategy by identifying the physiological and ecological characteristics and environmental factors of pests, and is pursuing a pest management strategy with high environmental safety. In particular, it focuses on establishing eco-friendly and biological control strategies for pests using insect pathogenic microorganisms based on insect pathology. Currently, he lectures on pest management, general insectology, and general biology, and also tree pests at Jeonbuk National University's Training center of Tree Doctor and Tree Treatment Technician.
5. Professor Hong Yong graduated from Jeonbuk National University and obtained a doctorate in agriculture and ecology at the same Graduate School. After completing his Ph.D. at Maharish International University (MIU) and Jeonbuk National University's Biodiversity Research Institute, he was appointed in March 2021 and operate insect classification classes, including tree insect management, pest management, and insect system classification.
