Library and Information Science(LIS) is a scientific study of theories and methods for collecting, organizing, accumulating, and distributing various types of information in all fields requiring efficient information management as well as libraries and information centers. The purpose of LIS is to cultivate the ability to understand this and to operate it.

It is an important task to cultivate information specialists who can utilize information most efficiently in the information age. At this point, the role and responsibility of LIS are more important. If information is the new resource in the information age, then the LIS is a core area, and the information professions that are being produced through it will play a leading role.
