Introduction
Derived from the words “Mechanics” and “Hackathon,” Mechathon, was founded in 2020 as a specialized club for students in the Department of Mechanical System Engineering. Mechathon develops machine learning-based software in various fields using artificial intelligence.
Every semester, Mechathon learns the fundamentals of various deep learning CNN architectures, data mining technologies for big data processing and analysis, and cloud computing technologies, including elemental technologies of machine learning. During semester breaks, students participate in different contests and hackathon competitions. Similarly, students learn about Natural language processing such as computer vision, content summary, translation, text classification, and emotional analysis (Ex. segmentation, denoising, repainting, deep fake, and super resolution).
Any student in the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering who is interested in learning about deep learning software or wants to learn how artificial intelligence (AI) technology is used in real life can become a Mechathon member. Mechathon is advised by Professor Hyung-min of the Computer System Design Laboratory and Professor Kim Eun-ho of the Advanced Structural Mechanics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering.
Mechathon utilizes the following programs:

- AWS cloud computing, Google Cloud, Docker, Git
- GUI library PyQt & TKinter
