Clinical Veterinaria
Clinical veterinarians diagnose and treat diseases in sick animals, including companion animals, farm animals, wild animals.
Public Service Field
Entering public service, the work includes animal disease investigation, management and quarantine, food hygiene management including livestock products, animal protection and welfare, and establishment of animal disease management policies. As the importance of One Health concept is highlighted due to the increase in zoonotic diseases, the area of investigation, research, and management of animal-borne diseases is also expanding.
Military Veterinary Officer
As one of medical officers, veterinarians serve in the military and are responsible for medical treatment of military animals (horses, dogs, etc.), military food/water quality testing, hygiene and quarantine management, and epidemiological investigations. Public quarantine veterinarians for alternative military service belong to national quarantine and inspection agencies and local governments and engage in livestock quarantine work during their mandatory service period.
Private Company
Veterinarians can work in a variety of private companies, including the development and sales of commercially sold animal health products, food hygiene management at livestock product processing companies, and production of breeding-related products such as animal feed. In addition to the traditional farm animal field, the areas in which private companies participate are expanding along with the growth of the companion animal-related market.
Researcher/Academia
Veterinarians engage in a variety of research fields that involve conducting experiments using animals, including research and development on animal diseases (medicines, vaccines, diagnostic technologies, etc.). In addition to the field of veterinary medicine, veterinarians work as researchers and professors in research institutes, government agencies, and universities in fields such as medicine, biology, and microbiology.
