What is taught?
- Students learn such basic science courses as physics, chemistry, and biology rather than mathematical theory from the practical side during their first and second years (Freshmen in arts and humanities can take those courses from 2009).
- Major requisites are Bio-Medical (BT); LCD and electrical and electronic materials; mechanical aerospace engineering covering automobiles, airplanes, and ships; and nano-materials and energy (NT,ET). Students can freely take courses including arts and humanities in other departments and at other associated colleges in Korea to fulfil their capabilities and aptitudes.
- Since the department consists of faculty members with such diverse career backgrounds as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, chemistry, applied chemistry, psychophysics, Bio-Medical, and LCD, it provides students easy access to double majors or specialized graduate schools in the various fields of the school of engineering, school of natural science, school of dentistry or medicine, or law school.
- Students can naturally improve their English skills both by residing with international students coming from English-speaking countries as candidates for master's or doctoral's degrees, delegated researchers, visiting professors and taking English-oriented lectures from the department's capable professors (About 50% of all lectures including graduate courses are delivered in English). One of the requirements to be a professor in this department is to have English-speaking lecture skills.
