The Department of Sports Science at Jeonbuk National University officially launched the 'Jeonbuk National University Department of Sports Science Alumni Association' on November 27 to seek development of the department through strong solidarity among alumni.
The department held an official launch ceremony at a restaurant in downtown Jeonju at 6:00 PM that day, attended by department head Kim Sang-hyun, professors, current students, and alumni.
At the launching ceremony, alumnus Lee Byeong-yeong (class of 2000) was elected as the first president of the alumni association, and plans were shared to grow the association into a platform for the local community and industry to grow together through various projects such as regular alumni exchange events and mentoring for current students.
In particular, a memorial service was held to honor the late Professor Emeritus Kim Moo-young, who greatly contributed to the development of the Department of Sports Science at Jeonbuk National University, leaving attendees deeply moved.
In addition, dinners and social gatherings continued, leading to active exchanges between seniors, juniors, and faculty.
Lee Byeong-yeong, the first president of the alumni association, said, “The launch of the alumni association is a meaningful first step toward preparing the Department of Sports Science to make a greater leap forward as a single community,” and emphasized, “We will actively pursue various activities to develop the department, nurture juniors, and contribute to the local sports industry.”
