About Accreditation

Business education accreditation system is one that develops business education programs based on the standards offered by business education authority to ensure quality education of business education.

This system is to develop characterized business education program based on the accreditation criteria of its certificate authority so that it can provide a certain standard of education for students. In this way it guarantees the quality of business education, Until now 30 universities including 8 national and 22 private ones have attained a certificate from KABEA and received assurances for a certain level of education quality.' It will continue to expand.

AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International) represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. And AACSB is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business schools. AACSB aims to raise the standard of management to strengthen the teaching staff, to improve curriculum and research performance, to expand educational facility, and to advance standards of students. Today, there are four universities in Republic of Korea including Korea University, Seoul National University, KAIST, and Sejong University that have eamed AACSB accreditation. In USA, there are about only ten percent of 4,000 colleges of business administration which have earned the accreditation, which can demonstrates difficulty to eam AACSB accreditation.

The fundamental goal of EQUIS, which is linked to the mission of EFMD, is to raise the standard of management education worldwide. It assesses not only degree programmes but all the activities and sub-units of the institution, such as research, e-learning units, executive education provision and community Outreach. EQUIS puts particular importance to the creation of an effective learning environment that favours the development of students' managerial and entrepreneurial skills, and fosters and enhances their sense of global responsibility. It also looks for innovation in all respects, including programme design and pedagogy.

The objective of KABEA, founded in 2005, is to develop specialized business education programs raise the standards of quality of business education based on the standards of international business education accreditation.
KABEA started with performing evaluation task on business administration of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology based on the system of business education accreditation in May 2007, and regular and normal accreditation practice have began to set in with the acceptance of application of preliminary accreditation since November.

• Submission of preliminary application of KABEA in June 2008
• Obtaining the preliminary accreditation of KABEA first in Hounam area in September 2008
• Submission of the self-evaluation report for KABEA inspection in February 2009
• Actual inspection by KABEA in June 2009
• Obtaining the business education accreditation in September 2009
• Setting goals to obtain AACSB accreditation for global top 100 of universities

Business education accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education. Schools must meet specific standards of excellence to earn the business education accreditation, and schools can enhance image and improve quality education by earning business education accreditation.
Korea Association of Business Education Accreditation (KABEA), similar to Engineering Education Accreditation, targets on the members of Korea chamber of commerce and industry including sumsung group and it is useful to improve employment rate of business school, Points will be added for the students who are graduated from the schools that have earned KABEA when students take part in employment exam.
