Purpose of Training Program
- To improve the English teachers’ communicative competence in order to teach English more effectively in their institutional contexts.
- To enhance the English teachers' instructional skills in order to effectively design and implement TEE (Teaching English in English) lessons in their classroom.
- To improve the English teachers' ability to construct lessons and to reflect on their teaching process.
- To analyze and develop English learning materials for effective English teaching.
Principles of Training Program
- This course will provide information on the approaches that may be used in teaching TESOL at the primary level. It will also provide supporting theory and a practicum in which the training teachers will practice applying the teaching approaches encountered during the online/offline parts of the course.
- The TESOL course aims to provide students with a set of teaching strategies drawn from CLT communicative language teaching and the theory of second language acquisition that can be used in the: planning, motivating, classroom management and organization of effective English lessons.
- The TESOL course will also aim at providing teachers with constructive feedback on their own teaching skills during micro-teaching sessions. The course aims at enhancing the trainee teacher's personal and professional practice in relation to English teaching.
- The TESOL course will also aim at developing the training teacher's confidence and team-building skills and support them in developing their professional communication skills.

Policy on English Only Zone
- All the classes are conducted in English to enhance English language proficiency of the trainees.
- All the trainees are always encouraged to speak in English around the LEC.
- All the trainees are encouraged to interact with each other in English in a variety of activities as well as regular classes.
Evaluation Policy
Overview of Program Evaluation
The trainees will receive detailed feedback on both their strengths and weaknesses of their lesson plans. This feedback is provided in order for the trainee to develop and improve their future lesson plans. The students will gain a grade between A-D for their micro teaching and ultimately a pass or fail for the micro-teaching on completion of the course. All the trainee teachers will receive adequate feedback and support to enable them to pass the practical component and are encouraged to engage and interact with their instructors.
