Pure metal, metal oxides and metallic-hybrid nanomaterials are new classes of materials received special interest due to novel characteristics and wide applications in various fields. However, few labs could provide these materials as the introduced synthesizing procedures are often complicated. Our lab seeks to create these materials in simple and cost effective methods. The coveted synthesizing techniques should be able to produce the desirable materials in size-controllable and morphology-subdued features. We seek to understand and exploit the interesting characteristics of these materials to introduce new application fields such as hard tissue engineering, direct and indirect fuel cells, lithium ion batteries, solar energy devices, drug delivery, antibacterial materials, biomedical devices and water desalination. This work combines fundamental studies with forward-looking engineering efforts in a way that promotes positive feedback between the two. Our current research focuses on production pure metal, metal composites, metal alloys and metal hybrid nanofibers using the electrospinning technique. Moreover, we are doing new metal oxides nanofibers by the same aforementioned technique. Also, characterizations of the produced nanomaterials are being carried out to be used in different nanodevices. These efforts are highly multidisciplinary, and combine expertise from nearly every traditional field of technical study.
