Since its foundation on November 1, 1952, JBNU Graduate School has maintained competitiveness in the research field.
Among a total of nine national universities in Korea, JBNU Graduate School is one of the universities that ranked highly in the CWTS Leiden Ranking, a global university ranking chart that evaluates the research quality and level of about 900 universities worldwide.
Research teams at JBNU have continually released papers that were published in the world’s top three scientific journals and other leading academic journals, as well as journals of Korean research foundations.
As with all prestigious universities in the world, a university’s competitiveness depends on its research capacity and graduate schools play a key role in research.
As of 2019, JBNU Graduate School runs about 200 master’s and doctoral programs.
About 2,200 students concentrate on their studies and research activities in 110 departments of three master’s programs and 100 departments of two doctoral programs at JBNU's Jeonju Campus; and six departments of master’s programs and five departments of doctoral programs at JBNU's Specialized Campus.
Our graduate school does its utmost to cultivate global talent who will lead the fourth industrial revolution, with the aim to “investigate and develop specialized academic theories and their application methods; teach highest-level knowledge and technology; inherit and develop local traditional culture; and bring about education welfare for local residents.”
