Science Research Institute was established in 2012, in order to support the research mission of Jeonbuk National University for each field of basic natural sciences. Its primary goal is to strengthen and enhance basic science research at world-class level.
The institute is made up of a dozen of research centers, with the institute acting as a coordinating body to bring these together and enhance interactions.
Currently the institute consists of 10 centers according to their study areas, ie. Semiconductor Physics Research Center, Institute of Applied Statistics, Research Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Research Center of Bioactive Materials, Institute for Molecular biology and Genetics, Science Culture Research Center, Institute for Radiation Technology, Institute for Biodiversity Research, Institute for Sports Science Industry, and The Institute of Earth Environmental System Research Center.
Activities in the institute are closely related to the departments of the College of Natural Sciences.
The majority of the college faculty members are also joint research members of the institute.
The institute is vividly seen active in supporting seminars colloquiums, and domestic and international academic meetings.
It supports more than 100 seminars and colloquiums every year. It has been and continues to be at the forefront of world-class innovative research.
