Educational Goals
Introduction
After the establishment of the College of Commerce in 1951, our department was founded in 1962 to meet the growing importance of international trade. In 1972, master’s programs were newly organized, and doctoral programs were launched in 1979. Since then, the College of Trade has been dedicated to fostering professional trade experts needed by our nation and society.
In response to recent environmental changes, the Cyber Trade Regional Department for the graduate school was established in 2001, and the Center for Assisting Internet Trade was created within the department to support export and import businesses of corporations in Jeonbuk Province. In 2007, Jeonbuk National University’s College of Trade was selected for the “Training Program for Global Trade Talents,” a program supported by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy as a successor to the TTI (Trade Incubator) program. Through this system, we have been training students to become high-quality trade professionals and contributing to our community and to South Korea’s foreign trade promotion efforts.
The college offers courses in International Commercial Transaction, International Economics, and International Commerce Policy. There are eight full-time professors, including Chung-won Yoon, Chae-won Song, Min-ho Kim, and Eun-mi Kim (professors of International Commercial Transaction); Nak-il Choi, Jae-kwon Byeon, and Baek-ryul Choi (professors of International Economics); and Ji-yeong Jung (professor of International Commerce Policy). Each of them has extensive teaching and research experience in their respective fields, providing strong scientific expertise, practical knowledge, and a deep sense of professional duty.
