Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology
Jeonbuk National University School of Dentistry's Major and Department
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology is in charge of education of radiological diagnosis, treatment and investigations of diseases on the oral and maxillofacial region. Methods for taking radiographs and indispensable details through pre-clinical practice and clinical education are provided in the undergraduate courses to train students as qualified dentists. 16 lectures including radiological biology, diagnostic imaging of head and neck anatomy, MRI, and diagnostic imaging of systemic diseases are offered in the graduate courses. More systematic and intensive education is available in the Masters and Doctoral programs after graduation. In the clinic, intraoral and extraoral radiographic imaging involving cone beam CT is conducted. Furthermore, techniques of digital imaging using PACS and tele-radiographic system have been applied since 2004. In current research, various studies on bone density using cone beam CT and so on are being investigated to contribute to academic development of oral and maxillofacial radiology hereafter.
