About the Department of Wood Science
The education and research of our department focusses on the physical and chemical processing of a variety of forest products and their resources including the wood to produce products useful in human life.
In modern life, mass production and mass consumption combined with global warming, depletion and misuse of the World’s fossil resources is causing social problems and will in due course lead to a reduction in human lifestyles. Continuation of human life and associated activities is depended on careful management of sustainable resources of which forests and timber products are of extreme importance.
Therefore the technical development to recycle old lumber instead of the continued use of new lumber will help to sustain natural resources and reduce environmental damage. Our department research is mainly focusing on the development of timber processing, technology development for resource conservation, and wood recycling, and creating a new timber culture, eco-friendly and high value-added products. The new wood cultural and wood related research significantly contributed for the resource development. Furthermore new forestry techniques can be researched in collaboration with industry to meet future needs.
After gradution, The board and plywood industry, furniture industry, wooden building industry, pulp and paper industry, and chemical industry along with Forestry Administration, National Forest Institute of Science, Rural Development Administration, and Chemical institutes will be undertaken.
