Department of Organic Materials and Fiber Engineering in Chonbuk National University was established in 1962 as Textile Engineering Department. The name Textile Engineering was changed to Textile Material System Engineering Department in 2006. Finally now it is known as Department of Organic Materials and Fiber Engineering (2011). Our Department focuses on the education and broad research area in the field of new and novel organic materials coupled with fiber material for diverse applications in present and future education system. Consequently, the new course of education categorize as 7 areas and implements the specialized knowledge including the detailed high-tech material research, the product application technology and texturing technique development etc.

It has the wide specialized knowledge about the materials and products development which could be applied to the sports, leisure, energy, electricity, electronics, information communication, medical treatment, military affairs, environment, and spaceship etc. which is required in 21st century by using the various high-tech organic materials and fiber based materials. So it is required that the modern man should be equipped with the responsibility and reliance and skilled.
