Welcome to the College of Engineering, JBNU
Since the College of Engineering (COE) of Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) was founded in 1951 with 4 departments and 640 students, the COE has grown up to 10 divisions (24 majors), 9 departments, 230 professors and 10,000 students. The COE provides its students with the graduate program of each department and professional graduate programs. All of the graduate programs are linked to research institutes to support the research efforts of professors.
The Korean government-supported programs for education and research activities are increasing every year: as undergarduate programs, LINC+(Leaders in Industry-university Cooperation+) Center, Integrated Circuit Design Education Center, Accreditation of Engineering Education, and Industry-Academy-Local Province Coupling Program ; and as graduate programs, Brain Korea 21 Plus (4 divisions and 6 teams), Wind Tunnel Center, Los Alamos National Laboratory –JBNU Engineering Institute, High-Enthalphy Plasma Reaesrch Center.
JBNU has a recorded total research grant of 100 million dollars in 2018, and most of the grant was garnered by COE. This research grant helps to improve research capabilities of professors and students, especially graduate students. The number of graduate students from abroad in COE reached 170 or more in 2018 and now it is on the increase. JBNU has modern dormitory facilities to meet the increasing demands of international students.
JBNU has been challenging itself to accomplish its goal of becoming ‘The best glocal university’. leading Korea and the world, and the COE has been playing a key role in fulfilling this goal. The COE is dedicated to supporting professors and students with great enthusiasm and energy so that they can serve the nation and the world in the in the age of the 4th industraial revolution.
