School of Chemical Engineering (ChE) at Chonbuk National University was open in 1951 and the number of graduates amounts to 3100 working in chemical industries, research institutes, and universities. Graduate program for Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) of ChE at Chonbuk National University is now being managed together with the department of semiconductors science. Thus, the department of semiconductors and chemical engineering in graduate school offers degrees of M.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering. Graduate program of ChE is open to the graduates major in chemistry, physics, semiconductors, material science, biology, and other related science and engineering at undergraduate program as well as chemical engineering. Many foreign students are also studying for M.S. or Ph.D degree these days with the financial supports for the graduate students working as research assistants of professors. Undergraduate program of ChE at Chonbuk National University was accredited by Accreditation Board of Engineering Education in Korea (ABEEK) in 2011. Thus, the graduates of ChE are internationally recognized chemical engineers. Students in the undergraduate program are supposed to choose one of three tracks, biochemical engineering, nanochemical engineering, and energy chemical engineering.
